Dubrovnik, Croatia has always been on my bucket list and I was looking forward to my trip in August. The only thing I had to worry about was the scorching summer temperatures. Over the past few years, heat advisories have become increasingly common across Europe during the summer months, and this past summer was no exception.

With temperatures soaring into the high 90s, experts were cautioning both locals and tourists to exercise caution and seek shelter during peak temperature periods. Bearing this in mind, I meticulously curated a selection of breezy yet chic ensembles for my trip, prioritizing comfort and style in equal measure. Here’s what I ended up wearing and it worked out perfectly.

With any of my outfits, the key is to be as comfortable as possible but still stay stylish.

On my first day of exploring Old Town, I wore a sleeveless top and jean shorts with sandals. The top was by Express and it’s not a typical shirt I would normally wear, but I loved the print design on it and it had a bit of a unique style to it. I could also unbutton the front to keep cool and not make it seem too revealing.

The top paired nicely with the white jean shorts from KUT and the gold ankle-strap sandals from Amazon Essentials. These sandals have been a constant companion on my summer adventures, thanks to their unparalleled comfort and high-quality memory foam that allows me to wander for hours without any discomfort.

Of course, sunglasses are absolutely essential in the summer months. When I travel, I usually opt for affordable shades as I have a habit of misplacing them frequently. I found these fun retro shades by Sojos for a great price.

Sojos is renowned for crafting high-quality, UV-protective sunglasses that don't break the bank, and they even come with a convenient carry bag and cleaning cloth. To my surprise, this particular pair proved to be remarkably durable given its affordable price point.

For the rest of my stay in Dubrovnik, I wore a combination of bandeau-style tops and a flowing maxi skirt. I wanted to wear an outfit that effortlessly complemented the picturesque backdrop of the historic old town while providing the flexibility and comfort essential for exploring.

I fell in love with this maxi skirt from Marcella the instant I saw it and had to wear it in Dubrovnik. The skirt not only boasted the practicality of pockets (a definite win!), but also exuded an air of elegance and ease as I strolled through Old Town and savored the breathtaking sunset from the summit of Mount Srd.

With the Marcella skirt, I paired it with an off-shoulder top that perfectly complemented the flowy design. Alternatively, I opted for a versatile bandeau top, also from Marcella, which not only served as a stylish clothing option but also doubled as a chic bikini top with a single strap across one shoulder for minimalist asymmetry.

When I went swimming in the Adriatic Sea, I wore my Molly Swim Bottom along with the matching Molly Swim Top. My preference for full coverage in swim bottoms led me to this particular design, which not only provided the desired coverage but also featured a flattering high waist, accentuating the silhouette beautifully.

Lately, I've been consistently drawn to Marcella as one of my top choices for fashion, owing to their ability to craft stylish pieces from high-quality materials at prices that are accessible. Adding to their allure, each of their pieces is designed in NYC and handcrafted in Europe.

For my shades, I switched to the Oversized Square Siamese Lens Sunglasses. Again, since I lose sunglasses easily, I opted for a budget-friendly pair with stellar reviews on Amazon. I found these shades to be exceptionally comfortable and they shielded my eyes from both UVA and UVB radiation.

In the evening for sunset viewing and dinner, I wore the Innika Top with the Raven Skirt creating a sophisticated ensemble that harmonized beautifully with the picturesque scenery surrounding us.

I also wore the Innika Top and skirt the next morning while we were exploring a little more of Old Town. Its graceful appeal seemed to effortlessly complement the historic charm of the surroundings, all while ensuring comfort and ease as I roamed around.

For footwear, I wore my trusty Nisolo sandals, another staple in my summer wardrobe. These versatile sandals have accompanied me on adventures across the globe, from the charming streets of Paris to the bustling city of Tokyo, and they never fail to provide both comfort and style.

ADDITIONAL ACCESSORIES

For accessories, I wore my usual Bandolier phone strap, Gorjana necklaces, and Nisolo Tote. All of these items have been my essential travel items for a while now.

The Bandolier stands out for its functionality, serving as a secure cross-body phone strap with a convenient case featuring a snap pocket for storing my cards and cash. With my phone always within reach, I can effortlessly capture any moment that catches my eye, making it a practical and stylish choice for my travels.

The Nisolo Tote has become an indispensable companion on numerous journeys, always ready to accommodate my essential items, including my DSLR camera. Despite the multitude of belongings it holds, the tote's expert craftsmanship ensures that it never weighs heavily on my shoulders, allowing me to traverse with ease and style.

If you’re into layering necklaces like I am, you will love Gorjana. They make high-quality jewelry that is both stylish and affordable, making it effortless to create beautiful layered looks. My current favorite pieces are the Wilder Alphabet Necklace and Griffin Dog Tag Necklace.
