Weather-wise, July is a great time to visit London. The mornings and evenings are in the 60s and the daytime temperatures were in the 70s. We got caught in some rain one evening (after dinner), but the majority of the time, we encountered partly cloudy weather and occasional sunny days.

A couple of years ago, we made our first visit to London in May and the weather during that time was significantly cooler. This time, we were delighted to visit during a season with warmer temperatures, especially in the afternoons.

There may days when you encounter a heat wave in London, which happened the week before we were there and the week after, so make sure you keep an eye on the weather forecast.

We stayed in London for three full days and wore pants or jeans with a blazer, jacket, or coat most of the time.

Day 1

Changing of the Guards Tour

We booked a tour to watch the famous Changing of the Guards Ceremony, which entailed being outdoors and walking around for about an hour and a half. Our tour started at 10:30 AM and the weather was cloudy and in the low 60s. We both decided to wear pants and a light coat which kept us comfortable throughout the entire tour.

Candy wore her favorite trench coat and this is a smart clothing item to have in London just in case it starts to rain. Plus, it’s super trendy and very London-y. Candy bought her trench coat from Anine Bing a few years ago, but you can find a stylish trench coat at a great price on Amazon. Mango also sells a variety of chic trench coats very similar to Anine Bing.

We also both wore comfortable white sneakers because we knew we would be walking a lot. Crystal always recommends her Cole Haan sneakers because they are lightweight with no label. Candy wore her stylish new Adidas Stan Smith sneakers that gave her extra support.

Westminster Abbey

After our tour, we headed back to our hotel to rest for a bit and Candy decided to change her pants. Instead of wearing black pants, she opted to wear ankle-length denim from Madewell. We headed to Westminster Abbey around 2 PM and the weather was still pretty cloudy, but the temperature had risen to the low 70s.

We both wore comfortable T-shirts from Amazon. Candy’s shirt is custom-made by Amazon. For $25, Amazon delivers a custom-fit T-shirt with your measurements so that the shirt is made to your liking. Crystal wore a cute graphic tee with a red heart. They have the same shirt in different colors and patterns and it comes in a two-pack to match any occasion.

Day 2

Hampton Court Palace

We definitely wanted to wear something comfortable for this day since we were going to be taking the train to the palace. It was a cloudy morning and in the 60s when we left our hotel, but by the time we reached the palace, the sun started coming out.

Banana Republic Linen Pants

Candy ended up wearing the same clothes from the previous morning and simply changed up her accessories. The great thing about London’s weather is that you most likely won’t be sweating, so you can wear the same thing twice or more.

Crystal wore her new high-waisted pants from Banana Republic which are made from 100% linen. It’s super comfy and has a pleated waistband which elevates them from your average pair of linen pants. The only thing about linen is that it wrinkles very easily. As long as you don’t mind that, it’s a great fabric to wear.

Candy’s Outfit: Mango Trench Coat, Sezane Trousers, Amazon Made For You Custom Shirt, Adidas Stan Smith Sneakers, Pacsafe Anti-theft Backpack

Day 3

Airbnb Experience Photoshoot

We scheduled a photoshoot through Airbnb Experience and the earliest time we were able to book it was 10 AM. The temperature started mild and eventually rose to the mid-70s so this was definitely the hottest day we had in London.

Nisolo Sneakers (20% off with code TRAVELPOCKETS20)

We both decided to wear something comfortable since we were going to walk around many of the iconic London sites. We both dressed in layers with a tank top underneath our top layer. Candy wore a washable 100% silk tank over her favorite trench coat. Crystal wore an oversized olive green jacket over a rib knit tank top.

Crystal’s Outfit: Lulus Oversized Jacket, Bandolier Phone Case Strap

Borough Market

Later in the day after our photoshoot, we headed to London’s historic food market. The temperature was starting to drop a little, so we made sure to bring a jacket. Crystal wore her jean jacket over a linen button-front linen dress and Candy decided to throw on a pair of jeans and an oversized blazer.

You definitely want to wear comfy shoes and being hand-free is probably a good idea so you can walk around with food in your hands. A tote bag would be a good idea as well if you decide to buy some treats to take home.

Candy’s Outfit: Oversized Blazer, Bandolier Lola Wristlet & Crossbody Strap Set

Packing

We both packed everything in our Away suitcases - the Medium and Expandable Carry-On Away Suitcase, along with our Pacsafe Citysafe CX Backpack. We think this is the perfect combination of luggage to travel within Europe.

Walking on the Eurostar Platform

TOPTOTE hat holder

If you are looking for a way to travel with a hat and don’t have room to pack it, we recommend TOPTOTE’s magnetic hat clip. Candy used it to carry her wide-brim hat and you can clip it to just about any bag.
