If you’re planning on exploring some of the iconic sites in Paris, you will need to pack clothing that you can layer. This is especially the case if you plan on starting your day early in the morning and staying out until the evening.

Weather-wise, June is a great time to visit. The mornings and evenings are in the 60s and the daytime temperatures range from the high 70s to mid-80s. We encountered some light rain and cloudy weather, but for the majority of our time in Paris, we experienced sunny weather.

This was our first trip to Paris and we were really looking forward to styling our outfits. We always enjoy planning what to wear for our travels, but we put a lot more thought into Paris since we were visiting the fashion capital of the world.

Day 1: Eiffel Tower and Rue Cler

We wanted to arrive at the Eiffel Tower early in the morning before the large crowds and tour busses showed up. Initially, we had plans to be there right at sunrise, but the weather was cloudy with a chance of light rain, so we ended up getting there a little later in the morning.

We both had plans to wear a dress this day, but with the temperatures in the 60s, we both decided to scratch the dresses. Instead, we both wore jeans and layered our looks so that we stayed comfy and cozy. Right after the Eiffel Tower, we headed toward Rue Cler which is the most famous market street in Paris.

This market is filled with shops and adorable cafes. Candy ended up buying a baguette after seeing so many locals buying one. If you plan on doing some shopping, carrying a tote bag will come in handy.

Day 2: Montmarte and Louvre Museum

Montmarte

We woke up early to explore Montmarte and the weather was cloudy and in the 60s, which was similar to the previous morning’s weather. The sun started to shine later in the morning which brought up the temperature to the mid-70s, so we’re glad we dressed in layers.

Montmarte is a charming village filled with shops and cafes perched on top of a small hill. Wearing comfy footwear is a must for the stairs, hills, and cobblestone streets.

When it was cloudy, wearing a cardigan or light jacket was plenty of warmth. Once the sun started shining, we no longer needed our top layer and tucked them away in our bags.

Louvre Museum

After our morning in Montmarte, we headed back to the hotel and changed our clothes for our visit to the Louvre Museum. By this time, the temperature was in the high 70s. From our hotel, the museum was a 15-minute walk, but we opted to hop on a metro instead since our feet needed a little break.

When we arrived at the museum, it was hot inside compared to museums we’ve visited around the world. Typically, museums blast the air conditioning, so we make it a point to bring a cardigan or light jacket. We both underestimated just how hot it was going to be inside the museum and there was definitely no need to dress in layers.

Crystal wore a linen midi dress which was definitely a better choice of attire compared to Candy’s outfit. Candy was going to wear a dress, but decided to throw on a pair of slacks and a tank top instead. It wasn’t the best decision and a dress definitely would have been a lot more comfortable.

We were pretty exhausted after we toured the inside of the museum and didn’t have any energy to explore the outdoor grounds of the museum. Instead, we returned to view the Louvre Pyramid the next morning. The temperature was in the 60s and it was a much more pleasant experience with cool weather and we practically had the grounds all to ourselves.

Day 3: Palace of Versailles

Versailles is a must-see when visiting Paris and we were super excited about this visit. There is a ton to explore both indoors and outdoors so we knew we would have to wear comfy attire and footwear.

Château de Versailles is such a grand display of lavish halls and exquisite gardens, so we wanted outfits that matched this magnificent palace. Crystal wore a pleated midi dress with an elasticized tie back and Candy wore a puff-sleeved midi dress made of 100% linen.

We both wore a pair of strappy gold-toned sandals, which were comfortable for walking in all day. The only thing we wish we would have worn is a hat with a wide brim. We spent half of our time exploring the gardens outdoors and with limited shade, a hat definitely would have helped keep us cool.

Day 4: Paris Streets

We also spent a lot of time exploring cafes, shops, and restaurants around our hotel, since it was located in the heart of Paris. Our street style looks were summery and of course comfortable.

Paris is also infamous for pickpockets and standing out like a tourist makes you a target, so we tried to dress as Parisian as possible to blend in with the locals. We got the sense that Parisians never looked like they were trying too hard with their outfits and looked effortlessly chic.

We aimed to find the right balance between looking dressed up but laid-back at the same time. Crystal also noticed that a lot of Parisians carried a tote bag and was glad she packed one as she ended up using that the entire time we were in Paris.

Tips

Summer is peak travel time, so crowded trains and museums will get hot and stuffy since air-conditioning is used at a minimum. Make sure to dress light in these situations and maybe even carry a portable fan with you.
Paris is notorious for pickpockets, so keep your valuables secure in crowded trains and tourist areas. A bag with anti-theft features will come in handy.
Bring a hat and sunscreen to Versailles if you plan on exploring the gardens and beyond.
An essential accessory we always had with us was our Bandolier. It’s great for carrying your phone in a stylish way and the chain strap is protection against pickpockets.
