I had been eyeing these leggings for about a year until I finally committed to purchasing them. If I had known how much I was going to love them, I wouldn't have waited so long.
What really surprised me about these leggings was the brand. I seriously had no idea Spanx made leggings. Why the wait? I just couldn't justify spending $110 on a pair of leggings since I already had two other pairs of black leggings. Plus, the most I had ever spent on leggings was $50, so this was a splurge for me.
I was shopping with Crystal one afternoon and without even knowing it, the mall we were at had a Spanx store. As soon as I saw their store, I knew I wanted to try those leggings! I was a little worried they wouldn't even have it since it wasn't a new style. When I spoke to the sales associate, she said they had it in stock and that it was one of their popular styles. After a few minutes in the dressing room, I was sold. I made the purchase and immediately wore them the next day. I had zero buyer's remorse. Here are the reasons why:
1. Posterior Lifting
The first thing I do when I try on a new pair of leggings is to make sure the rear is getting a lift. I need some help in this department, so anything that gives them a little boost will win my heart. And this boost is no joke, so much so, that Spanx has trademarked it. If you want proof (it's nine pages long and interesting if you've never seen a trademark application), here is the actual trademark document that is titled, "Posterior-Lifting Garment and Methods of Assembling The Same".
2. Comfy Waistband
I'm very picky about a waistband's rise and stretch. If the waistband is too tight it tends to create that muffin top that is undesirable, so finding a dig-free waistband is key. Also, not having enough stretch in the material can start to feel tight and uncomfortable after a few hours, so finding that right amount of stretch is key to keeping my waist comfy throughout the day.
The rise on a pair of leggings is another thing I am particular about. I don't want my leggings to sit too low or too high, so finding the right rise can be a bit tricky. I love that these are designed to hit the natural waist where it covers my tummy in just the right amount for the perfect coverage.
3. Center-Seem Free - AKA Camel Toe Free
I've been through a ton of leggings over the years and I'm sure we've all experienced the notorious camel toe at some point. It's such a disappointment when your new pair of leggings fit great, except for that one area. I always wondered why leggings continue to have a center-seam that basically accentuates the exact thing we are trying to avoid. Thankfully, Spanx designed their leggings center-seem free!
4. Not Your Typical Legging Design
These motto leggings caught my attention because they have a little edge to them that my other leggings don't. I've never seen a pair of leggings with so much texture and contour and in faux leather material. With all of those elements combined they are more than your average pair of leggings. I can dress these up or down and pull-off a look that can lean towards athleisure or a fun night out.
5. Year-Round Versatility
Being able to dress these leggings year-round is a huge plus for me. I like having garments that are functional for all seasons, which make it especially convenient for my travels. If you are a minimalist and are looking to downsize your closet or your packing list, these motto leggings are the pair to have in your wardrobe.
Love, love, love my new leggings. I've received so many compliments and always get asked where I got them. I wear these leggings everywhere and when it comes to my long-haul flights these leggings hit all the elements I look for: perfect rise, adequate stretch, and they look great when I touch down.
Where Can I Get Them?
There are a few options:
I purchased my pair directly from a Spanx store and paid the full retail price.
Amazon was selling them earlier this year and even had them on sale a few times. Their inventory and prices change all the time, so it doesn’t hurt to check and see if they happen to be selling them cheaper than spanx.com.
