On my recent cross-country road trip, I made a stop in Albuquerque and checked into Drury Inn & Suites Albuquerque North. I’ve stayed at several Drury Inns on past road trips, but this one? This one completely stole the show.
Not only was it conveniently located (just 15 minutes from both the airport and Old Town), but it had everything I love about Drury Inns—and then some.
Why I Love Drury Inns in General
When I’m mapping out a road trip, I always look for places that check a few important boxes: pet-friendly, close to the interstate, reasonably priced, and (if I’m lucky) a few perks like breakfast. Drury Inns fit all of that perfectly.
They include:
Free hot breakfast
Free dinner (yes, dinner!)
Three free drinks each night (cocktails, beer, or wine)
That’s a rare combo, and it makes them an amazing value for road trippers like me.
FREE BREAKFAST WITH THEIR DELICIOUS WAFFLES
Free cocktails - this cherry vodka cocktail was excellent!
First Impressions
From the moment we walked into the Albuquerque location, I knew it was going to be special. The staff was incredibly warm and genuinely friendly. Not the forced “customer service smile” kind of friendly, but the kind that makes you think, Are they really this nice? (Spoiler: yes, they are.)
Manager Mark Glass (who seemed to know every guest by name) stopped by our table during dinner just to chat, and the bartender, Anna, kept the conversations lively and fun. It felt more like staying with friends than checking into a hotel.

Food & Drinks (Yes, They’re Free!)
Drury Inn & Suites Albuquerque North offers free dinner every night from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. The night we arrived, they were serving tacos, hot dogs, nachos, and chips. And of course, the drink tickets were a highlight.

Each guest gets three drinks per evening, and the cocktails are surprisingly good. I tried both a Tom Collins and a cherry vodka cocktail (the cherry vodka won for me). If you’re more of a margarita person, they have those too.
We arrived a little late, around 6:15, so we had to rush to fit in all three drinks before 7:00. The staff made sure we didn’t miss out by pouring us a double for our last round. Talk about thoughtful!

The Room
We stayed in a King Deluxe Suite (Room 436), and it was way more spacious than I expected. The suite had:
A cozy living room with a couch, ottoman, table, and desk
A second TV in the bedroom
A full-size fridge (perfect for freezing ice packs and dog food on a road trip)
A wet bar with a microwave and coffee setup
Plenty of outlets and USB ports
Tons of pillows and extra blankets
Loved this spacious room!
The bedroom even had a door you could close for privacy. This is really handy if you’re traveling with family or friends.
The bathroom was roomy with lots of counter space, fresh towels, and refillable body wash, shampoo, and conditioner dispensers. The shower pressure wasn’t the strongest, but it got the job done.

Amenities & Pet-Friendly Perks
The hotel has all the essentials:
Indoor pool
Fitness center
Laundry facilities
Designated dog relief areas (no grass, just rock landscaping, but Kuma didn’t mind.)
Travel tip: Signs around the parking lot advised bringing in all luggage, which I appreciated as a reminder. With a road trip car packed full, I always bring everything inside anyway.

Extra Touches I Appreciated
Late checkout: I asked for a later checkout, and they happily extended it to noon. That extra hour made a big difference.
Route 66 vibes: The hotel decor gave a nod to Albuquerque’s famous Route 66, which added a fun local touch.
Personal notes: Drury Inns leave a little message from the staff in your room when you check in, which always feels thoughtful.

Final Thoughts
If you’re looking for a hotel in Albuquerque that’s pet-friendly, affordable, and packed with extras, I can’t recommend Drury Inn & Suites Albuquerque North enough. Between the genuinely friendly staff, the spacious suites, and the free meals and drinks, it’s an unbeatable value.
Whether you’re road-tripping through New Mexico or flying in for a quick visit, this is the place I’d book again in a heartbeat.
