Each year when we visit Japan, we try to pick a different city in Tokyo to explore. It’s such a vast and vibrant city that choosing to stay in a hotel conveniently located near the activities included in our itinerary is an enormous plus. In previous years, we have enjoyed our stays in the districts of Ginza and Shibuya, so this year we decided to book our stay in Shinjuku.
LOCATION
The hotel is conveniently situated within just a short five-minute walk from JR Shinjuku station. This massive train station, known for its complexity, has multiple exits and is surrounded by tons of shops, attractions, and an endless variety of restaurants to explore.
The hotel itself is perfectly positioned right next to a Lawson convenience store, making it incredibly easy to grab snacks or essentials. Additionally, we were also within a comfortable walking distance to the iconic Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building Observation Deck, which provides stunning views of the cityscape.

CHECK-IN
Check-in was scheduled for 2 PM, and we arrived a little early, well before our room was ready. There was an option to check in early for an additional fee of ¥4,000 per hour, which we thought was a bit on the pricey side, so we decided to just wait it out instead.
The staff were friendly, attentive, and they also spoke English. Since we weren’t able to check into our room right away, the staff offered to hold our luggage for us. This allowed us to explore the local area and make the most of our time while we waited for our room to be ready.

DELUXE TWIN ROOM
We booked the Deluxe Twin Room, which was an air-conditioned space featuring three single beds. Two of the beds were identical in style and design, while it was pretty obvious that the third bed had been arranged to be set up in the room prior to our arrival.
This additional bed was a single bed, but its height and mattress slightly differed from the rest. Regardless of the differences, all the beds were comfy and we were pleased to find extra pillows provided in the hallway closet for us to use.

The bed’s headboard was outfitted with a handy switch that allowed us to control the lights in the room, and it also came equipped with a USB-C outlet. This was the first hotel we’ve encountered that had a USB-C outlet rather than the more common USB type. The headboard design made it incredibly convenient for us to charge our various devices each night as we settled into bed.

Hallway Closet
The narrow hallway was fitted with a closet on one side and a full-length mirror on the other, adding a touch of functionality and style. The closet proved to be quite useful, as we took advantage of the space to hang up our jackets and dresses, making the room feel tidier.

There were plenty of hangers for all three of us who were sharing the room. In addition to that, the closet is where we also discovered a clothing steamer, slippers, and a digital safe. The steamer functioned exceptionally well, but there were some clothes that we needed to iron out completely, so we simply requested a standard iron and ironing board from the front desk during our check-in, which they were able to provide quickly.

Instant Coffee and Tea
Centered directly in front of the three arranged beds was a TV console that added a modern touch to the room. Inside it, we found a mini refrigerator, kettle, and a well-stocked beverage station with both instant coffee and tea options.
Above the TV console hung a flat-screen TV, providing us with entertainment during our downtime. There was also a standard outlet conveniently located here, allowing us to charge other electronic devices.

BATHROOM
The bathroom was surprisingly spacious, featuring a single sink alongside a roomy Japanese-style shower and bath. Being that there were three of us sharing this space, the sink area did feel a bit tight, but we managed to make it work since we all had our own hanging toiletry bags.
Private Bathroom
We appreciated the thoughtful attention to detail, as there were three sets of towels provided for all three guests. The toilet was equipped with a modern bidet, and we absolutely loved how the toilet automatically flushed—such a convenient feature! I hardly ever comment about a hair dryer, but the ReFa Smart Hair Dryer was simply amazing; it’s rare to encounter a hotel that offers a high-performance hair dryer like that one.

In addition to this, there were plenty of useful toiletries stocked in the bathroom, which included a hairbrush, toothbrush and toothpaste, a razor, cotton pads, and Q-tips—the essentials one might need away from home.
We genuinely love Japanese-style shower baths, and they provided high-quality shampoo, conditioner, and body soap. We also really appreciated that they thoughtfully included three long washcloths, which is so much more useful than the small square-shaped ones that most western hotels typically provide.

Despite our excitement to take advantage of the large tub, we encountered a puzzling problem where the water would not fill the tub all the way. It was quite strange; no matter how long we kept the water running, it would only fill up halfway.
Large Bathtub
SHower
One thing that many Japanese hotels typically provide is an air purifier, and this one was no exception. However, before we could fully utilize it, we noticed that we had to clean it a bit ourselves, as it appeared that housekeeping had forgotten to take care of this small detail.

FACILITIES AND AMENITIES
IN-ROOM MASSAGE
An in-room massage service is available at a reasonable price should you need to relax and rejuvenate during your stay. Although we did not take advantage of this delightful offering this time, we have enjoyed this service at a couple of our previous hotel stays in Tokyo, and it turned out to be such a fantastic way to unwind after a long day of exploring and walking around the city.

DRINK STATION
Next to the elevators, there was a convenient drink station where you can grab either hot or cold water at any time. We found ourselves using this daily to fill our reusable water bottles and we also took advantage of the hot water option. It was much easier for us to use the hot water available here rather than fussing with the kettle in our room, especially since our room was conveniently located right next to this handy water station.

LAUNDRY ROOM + VENDING & ICE MACHINES
There are multiple coin-operated laundries available on various floors of the hotel, making it incredibly convenient for guests. If you find yourself thirsty for something more than just water, the 14th floor features a wide selection of refreshing soft drinks, as well as an ice machine to keep your beverages chilled.

ON-SITE RESTAURANT
We were genuinely interested in dining at the hotel’s acclaimed restaurant, Umaya, which is a well-known culinary spot in Akasaka. However, the prices were a bit on the higher side, so we ultimately decided to explore other dining options nearby. Thankfully, there are a ton of incredibly amazing restaurants and little eateries surrounding the hotel, many of which were significantly cheaper.
FINAL THOUGHTS
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and couldn’t have asked for a more convenient and central location. The rooms were not only clean but also quiet and comfortable. Each day we had room service, and everything was replenished just as if it were the very first day we checked in. We especially enjoyed dining at the nearby restaurants, which were all fantastic.
