I found the perfect accommodation in Belgrade, Serbia and couldn’t wait to write about this place because it was so lovely. The decor was absolutely stunning, the apartment was spacious, the kitchen was plentiful, and the location was superb. This place truly exceeded my expectations.

As with most of my accommodations when traveling, I find lodging through Booking.com. It’s the easiest way to search for places and most places have free cancellations up until a week before or sometimes just one or two days before the day of arrival. You can get a better deal if you pay the non-refundable option, but I never go that route since there’s always the possibility that traveling plans may change.

I needed a place that could accommodate myself, my friend and her husband, and possibly a couple of other friends, so this two-bedroom apartment called The Dragonfly Residence was the most ideal place for our situation since it was advertised that it could accommodate up to seven adults.

LOCATION

The apartment is perfectly situated in the heart of Belgrade, offering easy access to the city's vibrant center. Its prime location allows you to immerse yourself in the lively atmosphere of the famous pedestrian shopping street, Knez Mihailova. Just a short 5-minute stroll from the apartment, this iconic street is lined with an array of enticing stores, inviting restaurants, cozy cafes, and even a modern shopping mall.

The shopping street also leads to the historical fortress, Kalemegdan, which is about a 20-minute walk from the apartment.

Right next to the apartment is a little convenience store and we often stopped by there to buy water and snacks.

CHECKING IN

Check-in time was 2 PM and I was given codes a couple of days prior to our arrival day. The first code was for the entry into the apartment building and the second code was for the lockbox in front of the apartment door that had the key located inside. Everything went smoothly and it was a fairly easy process.

The only thing to be aware of is that this apartment is located on the third floor and there are no elevators, so you will have to carry your luggage up with you.

There was no dedicated parking for the apartment, but there was a parking garage across the street. The parking price was reasonable at 11 Euros per day.

ENTRYWAY

We were welcomed into the cute and cozy entryway, adorned with charming decor and a soothing color palette. As we stepped inside, there was a console table to the right arranged with an array of useful items meant to enhance our stay.

From informative guides on the local attractions to a selection of comfortable slippers and sandals, every detail had been thoughtfully considered. In addition, we noticed a variety of practical items such as face masks, sanitizers, a lint roller, and even spare change and coins for any unforeseen needs.

The was also a coat rack equipped with a convenient shoe horn and an umbrella. It was evident that every effort had been made to ensure that guests felt fully cared for and welcomed from the very first moment they arrived.

KITCHEN

To the left of the entry was the gorgeous kitchen fully equipped with a toaster oven, dishwasher, refrigerator, ice maker, oven, and coffee maker. The refrigerator was stocked with some items like water, juice and milk. I made coffee with the Dulche Gusto pods every morning and it tasted great. There was also plenty of dishes, cups, glasses, pots, pans, utensils, and more.

Also in the kitchen was a nice long dining table that could fit 6-7 people. We used this area a few times to eat our Serbian snacks and pastries.

LIVING ROOM

Through the kitchen was the lovely living room where you can lounge in. My friend Kathy used this room a lot to use the computer desk in the corner. There was also a large TV and some fun books. Inside the closet were lots of hangers, games, tools, extra blankets, and other miscellaneous items.

BATHROOM

The bathroom had double sinks, providing ample space for us to lay out all of our toiletries on the counter. On the right-hand side, there was a luxurious stand-up shower equipped with a refreshing rain shower head and a convenient handheld attachment. There was shampoo, conditioner, and soap provided in the stall. The shower worked great with plenty of hot water and excellent pressure. Next to the shower stall was a washing machine as well.

It is worth mentioning that as soon as you get settled into the apartment, it is essential to turn on the water heater switch and leave it on, as it takes a couple of hours for the water to heat up. I found that this was pretty common in a lot of the apartment rentals in Serbia.

BEDROOMS

The apartment had two bedrooms and I stayed in the bedroom facing the street. The room was very spacious with a large bed that I believe was a king size bed. I slept like a baby both nights because the mattress and pillows were so comfortable.

I had a great view of the city looking down on the street, Carice Milice. I loved people watching while I sipped my coffee in the mornings or watching the rain downpour on the streets. At night, it did get a little loud with some traffic, but it quieted down around 9 or 10 PM, so it was not a problem.

Next to the window was a desk area with a monitor, WiFi information, and a few remote controls for the TV and air conditioner unit. The air conditioning worked great, keeping the room refreshingly cool, while the WiFi kept me seamlessly connected - until our final night when a heavy downpour interrupted the signal.

My view every morning

Overall, the room had everything I needed for a comfortable stay, including a large TV and an elegant bench situated at the foot of the bed. I utilized the bench as a luggage stand, keeping my suitcase open for easy access to my belongings.

Additionally, the room was equipped with an abundance of outlets, making it a breeze to charge my devices by the bed or at the desk.

The second bedroom mirrored mine in many ways, offering all the necessary amenities, excluding the desk. However, the tradeoff was a charming little balcony just outside. Kathy and her husband used this room and they enjoyed their room as well. They utilized the TV and said that it worked great with lots of American channels.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Some other things to note about this incredible apartment are that there was an abundance of towels, ensuring that we never ran out during our stay. Additionally, the host provided an iron, hairdryer, alarm clock, radio, streaming service like Netflix, clothes rack, fold-up bed, board games, puzzles, and a few other things. The host really thought of everything for the guests.

The host truly went above and beyond to ensure that every guest's needs were met. The attention to detail in the interior design created an ambiance that made us feel as though we were residing in a luxurious New York City penthouse. We couldn't have asked for a more comfortable and stylish place to call home during our stay in Belgrade.

Another aspect that we appreciated was the selection of useful items that were thoughtfully provided, such as an umbrella. This proved to be a lifesaver on the days when the weather took a turn and rain showers started unexpectedly. It was evident that the host had considered every possible scenario to make our stay as enjoyable as possible.

If I have the opportunity to visit Belgrade again, there is no doubt in my mind that I would choose to stay here again. The combination of impeccable amenities, outstanding interior design, and the host's attention to detail truly made this an unforgettable experience.
