We booked two nights at Hotel Indigo Waco since it was conveniently located within walking distance of Magnolia Market at the Silos in Waco, Texas, and it was pet-friendly.

Last year, Crystal embarked on a solo road trip to Waco and stayed at the La Quinta Inn & Suites Waco Downton and enjoyed her stay. However, this year when we decided to visit Waco together, we wanted to stay at a location that was even closer to Magnolia Market so that we could easily walk to the Silos.

FIRST IMPRESSION

We were on a cross-country road trip from California to Florida, so when we got off the interstate in Waco, we were pleased with how painless it was to navigate to the hotel. Sometimes after driving long hours, the last thing we want to deal with is traffic and difficult city streets.

There was plenty of free parking at the hotel and check-in was super fast. We were immediately greeted by the receptionist and there was complimentary water for both human and dog guests.

LOCATION

As we mentioned earlier, we wanted to stay in a pet-friendly accommodation that was within walking distance of the Magnolia Market at the Silos and this hotel was the closest one. It was about a five-minute walk to the Silos and you can actually see it from our hotel.

Right next to the hotel is a men’s Salvation Army shelter, so we did have one encounter with a man trying to haggle us into giving him attention. He seemed harmless, but we made it a point to simply walk across the street to the other side to avoid any confrontation.

Bedroom

We stayed in the standard two-queen bed and were so pleased with how spacious and bright the room was. The room was equipped with the essentials like a small fridge (no freezer), a 42” LCD TV, a Keurig machine, a desk, and high-speed internet.

We were pretty impressed with the office chair because most hotels provide a desk chair and not an ergonomic office chair. It’s definitely a nice touch for those of us who have to do a little work while on vacation.

The entryway was very spacious and we liked that there was a little coffee station in this section rather than the coffee machine being placed on the desk in the bedroom area. The Keurig machine had several coffee choices, but there was no tea available.

The closet was on the small side, but easy to access and the majority of our stuff fit inside. Since we were on a week-long road trip, we had more luggage than usual.

The beds were super comfy with plenty of pillows and we both had nightstands with USB outlets to charge our devices. Although the beds were comfy, we had trouble sleeping because the noise level from the room above us was bothersome.

It wasn’t the sound of muffled conversations, but an hour of constant pounding footsteps. Luckily, right around 10 PM, the stomping stopped and we eventually were able to get some sound rest.

Bathroom

The bathroom was spacious with plenty of room for both of our toiletries on the counter of the sink. The shower stall was also roomy and the water pressure was great along with the hot water. The hotel toiletries included shampoo, conditioner, lotion, and soap.

AMENITIES

They have a fantastic fitness center that is equipped with free weights, cardio machines, a ballet bar, and plenty of bottled water. The hotel also has a pool but we visited in January, so it was a bit too chilly to take a dip in the pool.

BRAZOS BAR & BISTRO

On our first night, we sat at the bar and ordered a couple of drinks and dinner. The lighting and ambiance slightly resembled a nightclub, but luckily (for us) it was relaxing and quiet.

The bartenders were friendly and attentive. Candy ordered the Barbacoa Tacos plate and the portion was surprisingly large. The tortillas were made with beet corn and the side of Mexican rice and charro beans was tasty and zesty.

PET-FRIENDLINESS

Pets are allowed in limited rooms, so their website says to call the hotel before booking to ensure rooms are available.  We called the hotel shortly after reserving the room, but the receptionist didn’t seem to understand why we called to let her know we were traveling with a pet.

There is a $75.00 nonrefundable fee and pets cannot exceed 70 pounds. There wasn’t a dedicated pet-relief area, but there were plenty of grassy spots around the premises. You’ll also want to make sure to bring your own pet bowls and bed.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Despite the room above us being loud on the first night, we enjoyed our stay there. The staff was friendly and it was super convenient to be able to walk to Magnolia Market.

Magnolia Market is pet-friendly, but the dining establishments aren’t, so when we wanted to eat indoors, we were able to drop off Kuma at the hotel and then pick her back up after we were finished dining.

If you are in Waco to experience Magnolia Market, this hotel is definitely a great choice.
