We travel together often and eventually we end up buying a lot of the same travel items. For example, Crystal purchased an Away suitcase a few years ago and shortly after Candy had to get one. Candy purchased a super handy cell phone accessory called the Bandolier and a year later Crystal had to have one. If you ever scroll through our Instagram feed, you’ll see us wearing the Bandolier in a ton of the posts and traveling with our Away suitcase.
It was only a matter of time before Candy jumped on board to purchase the same travel pillow as Crystal. The only difference this time was that Candy decided to test out several other travel pillows to confirm that the Cabeau travel pillow was THE one she wanted. She should have just taken Crystal’s word for it, but it never hurts to test out other brands to be 100% certain.
There are different models of the Cabeau travel pillow and we both recently upgraded to the newest model called the Cabeau Evolution S3.
Here are the top 5 reasons why the Cabeau Evolution S3 travel pillow is awesome:
1. Premium Memory Foam
Obviously the main reason why we love this travel pillow is for its comfort. We’ve been through a handful of travel pillows over the years and the premium memory foam by far beats them all. It’s soft and conforms to the individual, so it’s not one size fits all. The raised sides support your neck and prevents that annoying “bobble-head” when you are trying to get some much needed sleep.
This pillow ensures good posture, which in-turn relieves the pressure and tension that can build up in your neck and shoulder muscles. Not everyone can afford premium seats so having a first class travel pillow makes the economy seats on long-haul flights bearable.
2. Travel Pillow Bag with Clasp
This may not be a biggie for some people, but for us it’s a huge bonus. We don’t like having to wear our travel pillow until we are in-flight so that we can avoid being exposed to germs as much as possible. We definitely don’t like the idea of our pillows touching those yucky security belts or bins and we’ve heard those things are full of germs. Have you accidentally dropped your travel pillow on the bathroom floor or just on the airport floor in general? Gross. Makes you think twice about resting your head on it after it’s touched things you don’t want anywhere near your face.
The dedicated bag that comes with the Evolution S3 travel pillow is durable and it even has a clasp so you can clip it to your suitcase. This was a much needed upgrade as the previous bag that our Cabeau travel pillow came with was a cheap drawstring bag that wasn’t very useful. Now, the pillow compacts to half its size in the travel bag and is super easy to pack. There’s a nice quick-release clasp to attach to your bag for easy transport as well.
3. Patented Seat Strap System
We didn’t even think we would get much use out of this new feature until we actually tried it. This helps the head from dropping and really does keep your head in place. We also like that if we have to get up and use the bathroom, we can just slip our head out of it and the pillow will remain attached to the seat. There have been plenty of times when we’ve dropped our pillow because we couldn’t see very well from the cabin lights being turned off. Again, we don’t like the idea of our pillow touching the floors.
4. Machine-Washable Removable Cover
We can’t even imagine getting a travel pillow that didn’t have a removable cover. Would you sleep on a pillow that never got washed? Being able to remove and wash the bacteria, dust-mites, and odors after each journey makes just as much sense as washing your clothes. This cover also has a handy zippered side pocket where you can store your travel bag so you don’t misplace it.
5. Moisture-Wicking Abrasion-Resistant Cover
Having that premium memory foam is a must, but the material covering it has to be just as good. The fabric choices that Cabeau made are especially needed for long-haul flights. It’s moisture-wicking material keeps the neck dry and the abrasion-resistant fabric withstands travel rigors.
The new added features are an awesome upgrade and were worth it to us to purchase a new one. It’s not a surprise that this travel pillow was the winner for the “Best Travel Accessory” at the Travel Retail Awards in 2018. You’re probably wondering now how much this awesome pillow costs. The Evolution S3 Travel Pillow costs $39.99, but if you are on a budget and still want that excellent memory foam, you can purchase their classic version on Amazon for as low as $29.99.
PLUS! Cabeau’s customer service and warranty is top-notch. They respond very quickly to any questions, comments or feedback you may have and if you experience any neck pain while using the pillow, you can simply return it for a full refund. Their warranty is good for 2 years from the date of purchase and they will replace any damaged or defective products.
