We've never been to France, but every time we drive by Cafe Madeleine we imagine coffee shops like Cafe Madeline all over Paris. Located in a quaint neighborhood in South Park, you can't miss the bright red building with outside tables and crimson umbrellas lining the sidewalk.

We went in for coffee and breakfast on a Saturday morning and the ambiance inside was so charming. We were initially going to sit outside, but that changed when we spotted a cozy corner inside.

Cafe Madeleine specializes in sweet and savory crepes and paninis, but we were there for breakfast and selected entrees on the lighter side. We ordered the Yogurt Parfait, Rose Water Latte, and Almond Croissant. Selecting a pastry took some time since everything looked so fresh and delicious. We liked how they displayed some of the pastries in front of the reigester which make them so irresistible when they are staring right t you!

The yogurt parfait was made to order with fresh fruits and drizzled with honey. The presentation was so cute and really matched the theme of the cafe. The Rose Water Latte was on the sweet side and didn't have a strong rose water flavor and was very similar to a regular latte. We were blown away by the Almond Croissant. It was delicious!!! It was flaky, packed with flavor, and just the right amount of sweetness.

Cafe Madeleine is dog friendly and we wish Kuma (Crystal's corgi) was with us because we saw so many cute dogs while we were enjoying our breakfast. A lot of the locals walk to the cafe, but there is plenty of parking in the surrounding neighborhoods if you are driving.

We really enjoyed our breakfast and since we went in the early hours, it was calm and quiet which made the atmosphere very relaxing. We definitely want to head back and try one of their crepes and paninis for lunch. They also have a cafe in North Park San Diego which has a slightly larger menu with a wider selection of salads and drinks.
