I feel so lucky to be living in Tampa, Florida with all the dog-friendly locations in this city. Kuma, my sassy corgi, is my best friend and I like to take her everywhere with me if I can. Thankfully, Tampa has numerous dog-friendly spots and these are my favorite places I like to take her with me:

1. Hyde Park Village

Almost every retail store and restaurant at Hyde Park Village is dog friendly. It's so fun shopping with Kuma at West Elm or Lululemon. Kuma also loves all the attention and treats she gets from the shoppers and shop owners.

Most of the stores and restaurants in this cute area have dog bowls out front for the pup, which is so thoughtful. You can also dine outside with your dog at several restaurants including bartaco. They have a nice shaded area for you to enjoy on some tapas and drinks while your dog rests (or gets more attention).

2.  Ella's Americana Folk Art Cafe

Ella's Americana Folk Art Cafe has a great outdoor patio seating area for their customers and pets. They even have a hook at each booth to hold your dog's leash while you enjoy eating their delicious Southern comfort food. Kuma also loves the leftovers we give her.

LOCATION: 5119 N Nebraska Ave, Tampa, FL

3. Tampa Riverwalk

If you love to take long walks with your pup, the Riverwalk of Tampa is the perfect place. I had a great weekend getaway here with Kuma near Curtis Hixon Park.

You can walk along Hillsborough River on  the Riverwalk with gorgeous views of the Tampa skyline. There's also a dog park with fun little obstacles and if you walk north towards N Ola Ave, you’ll come across additional dog-friendly areas including Armature Works and Ulele’s.

You can’t take your dog inside the establishments, but you’re more than welcome to sit at a table outside with your pet.

4. Sweet Soul

Sweet Soul is the perfect place for you to indulge in sweet treats without feeling guilty. They serve all vegan, paleo and plant-based items that all benefit the body in some way. They even have Vegan Dog Ice Cream for your fur buddy!

Kuma really likes the dog ice cream here and since it’s frozen, it’s refreshing and she takes her time eating it (versus her gulping it down like she normally does). You can enjoy your desserts together at one of their picnic tables outside in a shaded area.

5. Hair of the Dog Park and Bar

This is our favorite park to hang out at in Seminole Heights. It’s such a cute area with big trees decorated with pretty lights and a nice size park for both the small dogs and big dogs. It’s awesome sipping on some wine or beer while watching your dog play with their friends.

Make sure to bring your ID and a copy of your dog’s vaccination records (Rabies, DHLPP and Bordetella). You can purchase a $5 day pass or a $50 year pass.

LOCATION: 4211 North Nebraska Avenue, Tampa, FL

6. Revolution Ice Cream

Revolution Ice Cream has the most amazing homemade ice cream and they have fun flavors like Eurotrash, Matt's Fatty Rolls and Grandma's Oreo. Kuma loves to get our share of the ice cream too, of course.

7. Ginger Beard Coffee

This coffee shop is very welcoming when it comes to your furry friends. Every time we visit, we see many owners happily enjoying their time with their dogs at the dog-friendly coffee shop. Ginger Beard Coffee has a great vibe and offers nitrogen-infused cold coffee brews on tap with interesting flavors.

8. West Park Dog Park

West Park Dog Park is my favorite dog park in Tampa and I’ve been taking Kuma here ever since she was a puppy. There are two separate fenced-in dog parks; one for the large dogs and one for the small dogs.

I take Kuma to the small dog park side and she loves playing with her friends here. There is also some fun agility equipment here that Kuma likes to do like the tire jump. I sometimes take Kuma to the large dog park side as well to get in more exercise by walking with her.

9. Davis Island Dog Beach

I take Kuma to this gated off-leash dog beach almost every weekend in the summer months so she can get some swimming in. Kuma loves to get in the water as long as the water is shallow and there are no big waves, so this dog beach is perfect for her.

There is a nice dog wash station before you exit the beach and I always use this area to give Kuma a good wash before we leave. It’s a fairly small dog beach, so getting here early is key before it gets too crowded.

Make sure to check the water quality before you go. There are times the quality is poor and the Florida Healthy Beaches Program will note this.

10. c.1949 Florida Beer Garden

c.1949 Florida Beer Garden has an extensive craft beer menu with 40 taps and 100 bottles and cans consisting of local favorites. The entire place is dog friendly so you can enjoy a cold brew outside in their nice beer garden or relax indoors in the air conditioning.

The staff here were really nice to Kuma and even gave her some dog treats which Kuma thanked them for by doing some impressive dog tricks.

11. Tampa Bay Brewing Company

Another great location to enjoy some beer while hanging out with your pup is at Tampa Bay Brewing Company in Ybor City. They have a nice outdoor bar and open-air patio seating. Your dog can people watch the streets of Ybor while you enjoy your handcrafted beer.

12. Two Shepherds Taproom

This is the largest dog bar in Tampa Bay and it is absolutely wonderful. Two Shepherds Taproom has a humungous outdoor play space for the dogs with a hose, several water tubs, some toys, water bowls, chairs and picnic tables. I love how much space there is for the dogs to run around.

In addition to the large outdoor dog park, there is also a large indoor play area for the dogs with some agility equipment. This is a great place to take your dogs when it’s raining outside or if you and your pup want to cool down.

And for you beer and wine lovers, Two Shepherds has an extensive list of craft beers and wine including local beer from 3 Daughters Brewing and Cigar City Brewing. They also have hard seltzers like High Noon and White Claw.

Make sure you bring proof of vaccinations upon arrival. You can pay a daily, monthly or yearly membership fee for entry.

13. Picnic Island Dog Beach

Picnic Island is a spacious off-leash gated dog beach in South Tampa. The water is pretty shallow here, so it’s perfect for dogs with short legs like my fur baby. I also see a lot of large dogs come here to play catch in the water as well.

There are a few picnic tables and benches on the beach for your convenience and there is dog wash station near the gate.

Make sure to check the water quality before you go. There are times the quality is poor and the Florida Healthy Beaches Program will note this.

14. Pups Pub

This is a fun little dog bar that has some cute photo ops, fun games, and a great staff. Kuma had a great time sliding down the cute slide that went from the bar to the dog play area.

Parking is limited since it’s located on Kennedy Blvd, but we didn’t have a problem finding a park spot at the time we went, which was around happy hour on a weekday.

Make sure you bring proof of vaccinations upon arrival. You can pay a daily, monthly or yearly membership fee for entry.

15. Deputy Kotfila Memorial Dog Park

This is a well-maintained dog park that is under a passageway, so it is completed shaded from the hot Florida sun. It is also completely sheltered, so your dog can run around as much as they want here on a rainy day.

There is an area for the small dogs and large dogs and both gated spaces have some agility equipment. There is also a free parking lot with plenty of spaces.

16. Sail Plaza

Located in downtown Tampa, Sail Plaza is Tampa's only 360 degree waterfront bar.  You'll see locals and tourists frequent this place as it is the perfect place to watch the sunset as you sip on your cocktail. The friendly servers bring a water bowl for your pup and you can have a great time with fellow dog owners and their pups.

17. Bo's Ice Cream

Bo's Ice Cream has been a Tampa favorite for over 60 years. Kuma especially loves Bo's because they make a cup of ice cream just for dogs with cute little mini bones.

The humans can try the popular upside down banana split with vanilla & chocolate ice cream, strawberries, pineapples, bananas, nuts, whipped cream and cherry... and I think that's it. You can order through their drive-thru or enjoy the ice cream outdoors at their tables.
