Cappadocia is one of those destinations many people dream of visiting and if you’re wanting to make your visit extra special, Taskonaklar Hotel is the place to stay.

The luxurious cave hotel is located in Uchisar and it’s definitely on the expensive side for Turkey, but my friend and I decided to splurge for one night and get one of the biggest rooms Taskonaklar had to offer and boy was this room impressive. We really did feel like royalty staying here!

FIRST IMPRESSION

As soon as we arrived at the hotel, a few gentleman came out to grab our luggage from the car and directed us to the lobby to check-in. We sat in very comfortable chairs at the reception desk while the staff took our passport information and checked us in.

We arrived hours before the regular check-in time, which was at 3 PM, but they were more than happy to let us check in early. We were so thankful because we just arrived in Turkey after a 15-hour journey, so we were ready to relax.

Everything was handled so professionally and efficiently and we were all checked in within 10 minutes. The staff showed us to our room and explained all the room’s features and the hotel’s amenities.

THE ROOM

We booked one of the best rooms on the property and we were blown away by our massive terrace. We had an outdoor jacuzzi, dining area, lounging area, and even more space to the left that we didn’t even use because there were so many other spaces we could use.

The views were magnificent overlooking the unique Cappadocia rocks and it was just so beautiful. We had to pinch ourselves to make sure we weren’t dreaming!

Royal Suite terrace

No hot air balloons, but the view was still gorgeous

Indoors, we had a living room, entryway, bedroom and bathroom. The living room was lovely with a couch, coffee and tea station, and a fireplace that we could actually use if we wanted to. We had a nice view of the property from the windows as well.

The room came with two complimentary bottles of water and wine for purchase. There is also a TV above the drinking station, but we never used it.

Robes and towels for the jacuzzi

The entryway had a large antique closet with some hangers, extra blanket, shoe horns and a laundry service bag. There was also a couple of luggage racks and a basket with robes and extra towels that we used for the jacuzzi.

The bedroom was smaller than we expected with a queen size bed. Most of the larger rooms like this only came with one large double bed, but my friend and I didn’t mind sharing.

Bedroom

Right after we explored the room, we took a little nap and had slept great. The bed and pillows were comfortable and the property was very quiet.

There was also a working desk and antique nightstands on each side of the bed.

Bathroom sink

Large shower head

The bathroom was gorgeous with a nice shower stall and a large sink area. They give you lots of toiletries like sponges, dental kits, vanity kits, masks, and slippers.

I had a wonderful shower that came with a huge shower head and handheld showerhead. It was extra nice to dry myself off with their large, plush towels.

AMENITIES

Taskonaklar Hotel comes with a complimentary Turkish breakfast and we were delighted with the amount of food we received. Little dishes just kept coming out and they were all beautifully presented.

A Turkish breakfast usually includes olives, slices of bread, fruit preserves, honey, butter, assorted cheese, nuts, dried fruits, cucumbers, and tomatoes. Plus, you’re offered eggs in any style served in a tiny copper skillet called a sahan.

Turkish Breakfast

Loved these handmade silverware holders

We enjoyed sitting outdoors with a view of Cappadocia’s fairy chimneys.

The service was outstanding and they even offered to take a picture for us. I absolutely love it when the staff offers to take pictures for you. I always feel like I’m troubling someone when I ask for a photo, so when someone offers to take it for you, I don’t have to feel bad and I look much happier in my photos.

You can also order room service and we ordered a few dishes from their dinner menu and enjoyed our meal on our terrace patio.

I have to say that the dinner was average. The Turkish meatballs (kofte) had a lot of flavor, but it was very dry. I thought that’s how they were typically made, but I later learned that there’s much better tasting Turkish meatballs elsewhere.

The kofte was too dry for me

The chicken pot dish was better

There is complimentary WiFi throughout the property, but it barely worked in our room. My friend, Kathy, had some work to do and since she wasn’t able to get WiFi in our room, she had to go to the lobby to get a better signal.

The hotel offers many private and group tours including creating a full-day custom itinerary for you starting at 160€ for 1-4 persons.

They can even prepare a sunrise breakfast or sunset picnic for you at a private spot with a fantastic view. For 2 people, it costs 100€.

Additionally, they offer currency exchange, laundry service, airport transportation, dry cleaning, special diet menus, and more.

HOW TO GET HERE

From Kayseri airport, it will be about an hour's drive to the hotel. We rented a car at the airport and it was an easy drive to Cappadocia.

Parking is limited, but the staff can help you with finding a spot once you arrive at the hotel.

Mount Erciyes in the distance

If you are coming from Nevsehir airport, it will be about a 15-minute drive.

If you’re not comfortable driving, there are shuttle transfers for about 10€ and private transfers that the hotel offers starting from 60€ per vehicle.

FINAL THOUGHTS

We certainly had a luxurious stay at Taskonaklar and felt like royalty with the service they provided. I wish we could have seen the famous hot air balloons while we enjoyed our hot tub in the morning, but due to windy conditions, the balloons were cancelled that morning. It was disappointing, but there’s nothing you can do about nature.

Enjoying the peaceful moment with stunning views

I’m actually not sure if I’d stay here again because of the price of the hotel. It was certainly a relaxing stay with top-notch service, but I enjoyed the lively vibe in Goreme a little more and the prices of the cave hotels there are much more reasonable and affordable.
