We had one day to spend at Arches National Park and wanted to stay at an accommodation that was both close to the park and also pet-friendly. Since Arches National Park has limited activities for pets, we wanted to book a spacious room for Kuma where she felt like she was at home. Kuma especially loves Homewood Suites because of all the room she gets to play around in.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

The hotel has a dedicated parking lot with an underground parking garage. Getting to the hotel was easy and directions to the main lobby were pretty straightforward. The lobby was spacious, clean, and luminous. The reception staff was amicable and we received the keys to our room within minutes.

The staff explained to us that room service was not available due to the pandemic, but if we needed to replenish anything within the room, we could fill out the card indicating which items we needed. We asked for extra towels, toiletries and more and received the bag in front of our room as promised.

LOCATION

Homewood Suites Moab is in an excellent location for the park and restaurants nearby. The drive from the hotel to the main entrance of Arches National Park was about 10-minutes. It’s a straightforward and easy drive. There are several restaurants, cafes, and shops within walking distance from our hotel, so we walked to several different restaurants, food trucks and grocery stores to pick up breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

THE ROOM

Our room was on the second floor and it was VERY spacious. One of the main reasons why we spend the extra money for a room at the Homewood Suites is the kitchenette. Since we were on a 10-day road trip, eating takeout can get old pretty fast. Having our own kitchenette gives us the opportunity to take a much needed break from fast food.

Kitchen with a standard size mircowave and dishwasher

The room is modern and has a spacious kitchenette with standard-sized appliances. We were surprised because many hotels install small appliances, but this room had a full-size dishwasher, microwave, refrigerator, and other miscellaneous items like a toaster. There were plenty of dishes and silverware and a dining table. We took full advantage of the kitchen as there was a grocery store (Moonflower Community Cooperative) right next to the hotel. Candy bought bagels and other items to prepare lunch.

Large Refrigerator

Dining Room Table

There is a lounging area which was a nice space for Kuma to run around and she really took advantage of it. She happily started playing with her toys and ran back and forth across the room. She only does this in hotel rooms she likes, so we knew we picked the right place.

There was a larger dresser, TV, two queen-size beds, and a ceiling fan. The ceiling fan was a fantastic feature and it really felt like we were in a home. It’s rare to find a ceiling fan in a hotel room, so we really appreciated it and definitely utilized it. There was plenty of space between the beds and multiple outlets for both of us to use to charge our phones and other electronic devices.

Plenty of outlets to charge our devices

The bathroom was separated from the sink area, which is a feature we like in our hotel rooms. Having the vanity area independent from the bathroom helps us get ready faster in the mornings. The shower was spacious and Neutrogena products were provided. The water pressure was excellent and plenty of towels were available. There was a nice size closet filled with extra blankets, an iron board, iron, and a suitcase rack.

AMENITIES

Indoor Pool, Business Center, Fitness Center, Barbecue Grills, & Guest Laundry

There is a laundry facility available on-site if you need to wash some clothes and a business center that is open 24 hours. We saw some guests enjoying the indoor swimming pool and a fitness center was available; however, due to the pandemic, the fitness center was temporarily closed at the time of our visit. We were also pleasantly surprised that the hotel provided barbecue grills, which is an amenity we rarely see.

DINING

There is a dining area on the first floor, but it was closed during our stay due to the pandemic. During normal circumstances, they serve a complimentary breakfast buffet from 6 AM to 10 AM. Due to the temporary closure, the hotel provided breakfast to-go bags instead. We grabbed one on the first day and inside the bag was a frozen Jimmy Dean sausage, egg, and cheese muffin, granola bar, banana, and bottled water.

As we mentioned earlier, there are plenty of dining options within walking distance from the hotel. A couple of restaurants and food trucks we tried were Arches Thai and Quesadilla Mobilla. The Thai food was okay, but the quesadilla was awesome!

So much Thai food

PET FRIENDLINESS

The hotel is pet friendly; however, they do not provide any amenities like bowls or a dog bed. We always bring our pet products so that wasn’t an issue for us. The only thing we wish the hotel provided was an area to walk Kuma. They do have a dedicated area to walk your dog with a pet waste station, but it’s all rocks. If your dog prefers grass, the nearest park is called Swanny City Park and it’s about a 5-minute walk from the hotel.

HOTEL COST

This hotel cost us a bit more than the other hotels we stayed at on our road trip, but since we didn’t have to eat out for all of our meals, we saved some money there. We stayed for two nights in late August 2020 and the total cost was $443.27 for a Two Queen Beds Studio Room.

FINAL THOUGHTS

We had a fantastic stay and really enjoyed how spacious the room was. It really felt like we were in a home and not a hotel room. The staff was friendly and the hotel is located in a fantastic location. We’re minutes away from Arches National Park and within walking distance to multiple dining establishments. We definitely would recommend our family and friends to stay here.
