My husband had a business trip in Mesa, Arizona and since he was staying at a dog-friendly hotel, I decided to tag along with my fur babies, Zooey and Captain.

This wasn't my first time in the area as I visited a couple of years ago with Crystal and Kuma. I was filled with excitement at the prospect of returning once again, especially because this visit would be Captain's first experience in the region.

FIRST IMPRESSION

We were driving into the area from Los Angeles and arrived after sunset around 8 PM. It was pretty dark when we arrived, but luckily, the hotel was situated right beside a brightly lit gas station that was impossible to miss.

As we pulled into the parking lot, we saw there were plenty of empty spots and there was also ample space to park our long rental van. The process of checking in was a seamless experience, effortlessly whisking away any fatigue from our 7-hour drive.

THE ROOM

We were assigned room 316, a spacious and inviting sanctuary with two double beds. During our stay, we were fortunate to have a room with a soothing view of a lush and vibrant golf course that seemed to stretch for miles.

The entrance was a generous size and right next to the door, a cleverly designed nook awaited, offering the perfect spot to hang keys and any small essentials. I used this convenient corner to place my room key and the pup's leashes. Every time I left the room, I knew exactly where all my keys were and I didn’t forget them.

There was a large coat closet with a coffee station to the left. The closet had plenty of space for our outerwear and this was where the iron and ironing board was tucked away.

Surprisingly, right above the coffee station was a microwave, which came in handy for reheating leftovers during our stay. It was a delightful addition that added a touch of convenience to our daily routine.

Two Queen Beds

Our beds were comfy and each bed was adorned with four fluffy pillows to ensure maximum comfort throughout the night. Positioned right between the beds was a nightstand with a charging station boasting both an outlet and USB ports.

Next to the bed was an accent chair and the room’s PTAC (packaged Terminal Air Conditioner) unit. The unit would loudly hum sometimes, creating an annoying background noise in our room. However, despite the occasional disturbance, we were fortunate enough to drift into a peaceful slumber without much difficulty.

Long Wooden Desk

A long, sleek working desk covered the entire wall facing the beds, offering us an abundance of space to neatly store our belongings. The thoughtful design of the desk included numerous conveniently positioned outlets and USB ports, ensuring that we could effortlessly charge our devices and stay connected.

Mini Refrigerator

In addition to the mini fridge tucked underneath the desk, nestled within the drawers were not only the customary Bible but also the Book of Mormon. Hanging on the wall above the desk, was a large flat-screen TV with plenty of cable options and local programming.

The bathroom was spacious, providing ample room for movement. However, it fell short in terms of lighting as it was dimly lit, creating a slightly gloomy ambiance. Personally, I gravitate towards brightly lit bathrooms, as they exude a sense of cleanliness and freshness.

Hanging Toiletry Bag

Despite the lighting concern, I appreciated the presence of several hooks scattered throughout the room. This allowed me to neatly hang my toiletries, freeing up the limited counter space that was available. Moreover, the abundance of hooks came in handy when it came to hanging towels and various miscellaneous items, ensuring a clutter-free environment.

Plenty of towels

Handwash and Lotion

Basic toiletries like liquid hand soap, lotion, shampoo, conditioner, and body soap were provided in large reusable bottles. The shower was on the smaller side but provided an ample supply of hot water.

PET POLICY

During our stay, all the staff I encountered showered both Zooey and Captain, with an abundance of attention. It truly made us feel welcomed and appreciated.

The pet fee was $75 per pet with a max of two pets per room. It's important to note that the hotel did not provide any dog bowls or beds, so you’ll need to bring these essential items along.

Just to the left of the hotel’s entrance, there is a convenient pet relief area with a dog waste station. It's always much appreciated when hotels go the extra mile to create a dedicated haven for our fur babies.

LOCATION

We were less than two miles away from the Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport and surprisingly I never saw or heard a single aircraft.

Arizona’s Local Cactus Corn

There were endless choices of cafes, restaurants, and shops within a two-mile radius of our hotel. I was able to take leisurely walks with Zooey and Captain to nearby establishments, as the well-constructed sidewalks provided us with a safe strolling experience.

View of Superstition Mountain from Goldfield Shost Town

We were also within a very short distance of attractions like Lost Dutchman State Park, Goldfield Ghost Town, Canyon Lake, Tortilla Flat, and Superstition Mountain Museum.

During our stay in Arizona, we explored Goldfield Ghost Town and the majestic Superstition Mountain Museum, both of which turned out to be incredibly dog-friendly destinations.

FINAL THOUGHTS

We had a comfortable three-night stay and enjoyed the surrounding attractions. We enjoyed our morning walks to Dutch Bros Coffee and appreciated that everything we needed was located within such close proximity to us.
