I enjoy staying at Airbnb rentals in different countries around the world and this Airbnb in Budapest was the best one yet.

Titled Vörösmarty Central Home, this Airbnb had everything I could ask for and more. I needed two separate beds since my friend was staying with me and this place had a big double bed in the bedroom and a pullout sofa bed in the living room. I noticed that there was also an air mattress in the closet, so there’s one more extra bed if needed.

I was able to check-in myself with a code that was given a few days prior to my arrival. The host, Ani, always responded in a timely manner whenever I had questions. She was also kind enough to give me precise details on where the apartment was located including pictures and this helped me out a great deal when I arrived.

Check-in was smooth and just as described in the directions. The apartment was located on the 5th floor, but thankfully, there was an elevator (very tiny elevator that fits 4 people max). When I walked into the apartment, I was surprised at how spacious it was. Everything was decorated nicely as well. She has a great sense of interior decorating. I loved some of the vintage items she had like the refrigerator and typewriter.

LIVING ROOM

The living room was very cute with two sofas and one of them turned into a double bed. Ani decorated the couches with cute pillows and it was a very cozy space. The room also had a cart with wine and champagne glasses, a chess table, a bookshelf full of Hungary books and a TV with Netflix and some English channels. There were also large windows that looked out to the Vorosmarty Square (Vorosmarty ter).

KITCHEN

The kitchen was adorable and filled with just about everything you could ask for and more. The cute vintage refrigerator had some cheese, charcuterie, eggs (in the cutest egg holder box), water, beer and creamers. The counter next to the fridge had a variety of teas and a Nespresso machine with plenty of coffee pods to choose from. The table in the middle of the kitchen had some fresh apples and grapes. We definitely took advantage of all the food and drinks the host provided and had a lovely breakfast using the small stove and the utensils provided.

BATHROOM

The bathroom was lovely and it almost felt like a hotel bathroom because Ani provided travel-size shampoos, conditioners and soaps in a little metal bin. The shower was spacious and the pressure was pretty good but I do wish the water got a little hotter. For most people, I’m sure the temperature is fine, but I really like to take steaming hot showers.

BEDROOM

Another spacious area of the apartment was the bedroom. The double bed was very comfortable and Ani provided plenty of pillows and blankets. She even left some extras in the closet in the hallway. There was a desk, a drawer and stand to hang our jackets. I appreciated the bench at the end of the bed so that I could conveniently lay out my suitcase. There were also plenty of outlets and some I didn’t even notice until the day I left. The room is very soundproof from the rest of the apartment as I didn’t hear any noise from the living room. I definitely got a good night’s rest on all the 3 nights I stayed here.

LOCATION

The location is absolutely perfect. It’s central to pretty much everything and there are so many restaurants and shops only steps away. There is a metro station right in front of the apartment that can take you directly to Heroe’s Square or Széchenyi Thermal Bath on M1 in 15 minutes or less. There is plenty of shopping you can do nearby at H&M, Zara and more. There are also numerous restaurants and dessert shops right by the apartment like Gerbeaud and Red Pepper. I highly recommend dining at both of those restaurants. If you decide to do one of the free tours of Budapest, the meeting spot is literally right in front of the apartment at the lion fountain. Budapest’s famous Chain Bridge is a 10-minute walk and the ruin bars are within a 15-minute walk.

FINAL THOUGHTS

This was probably the best Airbnb I have stayed at to date. Our host, Ani, thought of everything we needed and I appreciated the extra food and drinks she provided because it really came in handy. It was also nice to have a washer and dryer in the apartment as well since we were going to be in Europe for a little over a week. Another useful thing that came in handy were the umbrellas she provided because we ended up needing those as well. I can’t say enough about this place; it was absolutely wonderful and I highly recommend everyone to stay here if you are visiting Budapest!
